As one the measures taken for bringing about qualitative improvement of elementary education in general and teacher education in particular, NPE( National Policy on Education) (1986) envisaged the establishment of DIET, a district level teacher education institution each in all district of the country Consequently the year 1988 witnessed the establishment of DIETs with the main function entrusted upon them to provide both pre service and in service teacher education.
To effective administration and give the advantages of government to the grass root level the Surat district is divided in two, Surat and the second one is Tapi.
The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Tapi is started as per Govt. of Gujarat of Education Department Sachivalay Gandhinager G.R. No.
